What a way to go out. In the final book in MaryLu Tyndall's Escape to Paradise trilogy, it has everything that a fan of action, adventure, and thrills could expect. This is my favorite kind of roller coaster.
This story follows Angeline Moore who is on the run from a past that you could say haunts her.
James Callaway has taken on the role of pastor for the colony, but he has battles waging inside him that threaten not only him but the whole colony.
Evil lurks in the jungle and James feels that it is up to him to discover the answers as to how to defeat the demonic presence that is surrounding their new colony.
When the pirates returned, I'll be honest, I was like 'Oh boy. Again?' But the pirates do add to the story this time and not detract as I felt they did previously.
At times it felt like nothing would ever be right for Angeline and James, as well as the supporting characters that we got to meet in the previous books. That is a sign of great writing. Take the reader on a roller coaster of low lows and high highs. This book definitely accomplished that. I enjoyed how the characters? lives were weaved together before they ever came to the colony.
As for the battle with the demonic forces...WOW! Talk about creepsters.
Dreams, both bad and good, do have meanings, as they learn, usually more in depth than we could ever imagine. The battle had me cheering.
Even though there were times I didn't care for either Angeline or James, by the end they both won me over. this was a wonderful end to the trilogy, one that I recommend to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, thrilling mysteries, and overcoming evil with good.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review which I have given.

Third in series - Excellent!
Abandoned Memories by MaryLu Tyndall is the third and final book in the Escape to Paradise Series. The other two are Forsaken Dreams and Elusive Hope. While it is not necessary to read the other two books prior to this book, I think that it would help in understanding the background of the characters; also the series would make for a wonderful collection on your book shelf. While I enjoyed all three books (author MaryLu Tyndall always writes a great story) Abandoned Memories is probably my favorite in this series. I really enjoyed the main characters, Angeline Moore and James Callaway. The characters were very likable and you will find yourself rooting for them as you turn the pages. The story takes place in Brazil in the 1800's and is full of adventure, mystery, and of course, romance. MaryLu Tyndall also weaves a supernatural element throughout the book that adds to the intrigue of the story. I give Abandoned Memories FIVE stars.

Excellent ending to the series!
Get ready for romance, pirates, demons, history, and adventure!
James is a doctor turned preacher who seeks to create a moral utopia in the new colony, New Hope, in Brazil. Angeline is the colony's seamstress who left America to start anew, having been a prostitute. New Hope is a colony in Brazil, formed by Southerners angry after losing the Civil War. The colony faces an onslaught of terrorizing visions and tragedies. New Hope goes through every test imaginable and faces destruction. James and Angeline fall in love, but there's one little problem: James has a prejudice against prostitutes, and Angeline used to be one. Will James overcome his prejudice? Will Angeline survive the destructive visions telling her to kill herself? Will James and Angeline come to a better understanding of who God is and what He wants for them? What happens when an old acquaintance tries to force Angeline to be his mistress? What happens when pirates invade and are so hungry for gold, they're willing to unleash the last captive demon? Will the colony of New Hope survive?
I enjoyed this book and felt I could really identify with James and Angeline in different areas. The ending of the book was unique and was wrapped up very nicely. By book three, I became more used to the spiritual warfare/sci-fi side of the series, even though I still feel kind of weird reading supernatural events. I really prefer historical fiction, and have enjoyed MaryLu's other series more, but this series was interesting.
