In Madrid, she joins a group of young people, including members of the International Brigade against Franco, to protest the killings and incarcerations of anyone opposed to the government. The denial of rights and justice for women are central to her cause. Using her gifts of poetry and song, she holds illicit performances throughout Madrid to bring to her cause those in power who are disillusioned by government. The risks are many.
