Spine ends lightly rubbed but tips remain sharp. 190pp text is crisp, fresh-smelling and age-toned with no markings inside save for, "To Heather" on fr end pp. Not exlib. Clipped original dj has a few tiny chips and negligible soil on white background of rear panel, but displays well in new mylar. Martini is a beautiful filly. She is intelligent and well bred, and Guy Beaumont, who schools her with care and understanding, is determined that she shall go to a good home. Pip, who buys her thinks the filly is the loveliest pony anyone ever had-until she finds that she has neither the courage nor confidence to manage such a high-spirited mount. Pip sells the pony to Lydia, a harsh arrogant girl who believes in training the tough way. She plans to make Martini a star jumper, but her bad treatment has the worst possible effect. The filly becomes nervous, stubborn, and temperamental, and once again the pony is up for sale. Lettie Lonsdale becomes Martini's owner and she finds she has taken on a difficult task. But patience and wise schooling win the day, and she and Martini know that a successful and happy future lies before them.
