The architecture of this story is flawless, its entertainment value, undeniable. Niven sets forth characters you can identify with, and lets the mysteries inherent in a future needing to be explored sneak up behind you with an ACME mallet. Just when all seems lost, he spins you around and keeps you going, straight into a world that is at once familiar and completely alien. Not only was the book enjoyable the first time around, but after years and years, the story is still a great read, and somehow always finds its way into my top 10 list. If you can't read 'A World Out of Time' again and again, you've never read it.
