If you garden, treat yourself to this beautifully written book. The author guides you through a year in her garden dividing the year into phases of life - Conception, Birth, Youth, Adulthood, Senescence, Death and Afterlife. She tells about her first attempts, her failures then leads us to her garden 20 years later and shares with the reader her insights learned through trial and error. These tales are a conversation most true gardners have had with themselves - love it and hate it at times, but there always remains that desire to plant. The book is also a compendium of garden porn - the most beautiful photos of the author's garden taken during every season of the year. (I loved the book before ever reading one paragraph!) The book is filled with good, solid basic information, gardening insights and then just for good measure, some oddities, obscure information, i.e., understanding gardening Latin. A Way To Garden is a book you will read over and over - a real treasure.
