I bought this book because I was doing research first-person accounts of the post-Tet Offensive period of the war. I was surprised at the ability of the author to communicate his perspective as a know-nothing young American kid who was shipped off to face death in a war whose politics were "complicated", to put it euphemistically. For those seeking a very frank and insightful account of a single soldier's experience, this is an excellent book. McCormick saw a lot of brutal combat for a young man. It is really too bad that this book is priced so high, even in used condition.
