Very enjoyable Christmas stories
This collection of novellas is a fun Christmas read! All the stories pertain to sweet romances throughout the Victorian era. Messages of Jesus Christ shine through the pages. Here are a few notes on the individual stories....
"Angel in the Attic": A rich young woman meets a man alleged to be murderous. I enjoyed Fara's fiery attitude and the way she talks in her western accent. She's a very down-to-earth character, ready to say anything on her mind. A wonderful story to start out this book!
"Lone Star": This is the story of a woman entering an arranged marriage that will seal business deals for her father's ranch in Texas. After a voyage to England to meet her future husband, things go awry, providing many laughs for the reader!
"Under His Wings": An English earl comes home one wintry night from a long trip. He is greeted by one of the housemaids in his mansion, who offers him just enough warmth, chaos, wittiness that the love that unfolds is quite unusual in society, yet perfectly understandable under the circumstances.
"Behold the Lamb": This story is charming and lovely. It centers around a baronet who has selected his wife based on certain criteria about her family. However, she doesn't quite turn out to be the lady he thought that he was looking for! (I believe this story turned out to be my personal favorite.)
