16mo-over 5¾"-6¾" tall. xv, 128p. A very good copy, the title page has been cropped, eliminating nearly all of the A, a small piece of the the top fore-edge corner of pages 3-4 has been torn-out without the loss of any letters, a former owner's illegible signature is on the title page, and there is some unimportant foxing on pages 11-12. The full leather binding is polished, with decorations and labels on the spine, dentelles, exquisite marbled endpapers and all is in fine condition. The top edges are gilt. The first edition of this work was published in London in 1780 and was anonymous. This first Irish edition and the second printing of the work, after the London edition, was wrongly ascribed to William Mitford, the brother, of John, who actually wrote the work.

Pages are lightly toned with age with deckled edges but book is otherwise unmarked and readable with no other markings except light pencil marks on frontspiece of intials and price. Brown suede leather binding is worn through at corners. Spine has decoration but is soiled with stains. Front cover.
