He has endeavoured to produce a compofition, which, without difgufling the profefiional reader, may be eafily comprehended by men'of bufinefs, and ferve as an elementary treatife to the Prudent. In exe curing this plan, he has given, under each divifion, an hii'torical deduction of the opinions which have been held on' the point immediately under dif cuflion, and concluded with the law as fettled by the latefi decifions, where, in fact, it has been fettled. Where the point remains {till in doubt, he has flared the arguments on both fides of the quefiion. How far he has fucceeded in the execution, the public only can decide.
