Early UK reprint, 12mo, 564pp, line drawings by various illustrators; red cloth illustrated gilt and black; two or three of the full-page illustrations had worked loose at some time and been resecured by a previous owner using clear tape; similarly a quatrain does not sir completely flat in the text block, presumably laso having worked loose; previous owner's name and date to head of title page; spine a little faded; overall though much better than that lot makes it sound VG Copy.

This book is a great read. Twain is undoubtedly the premier wordsmith of America. I had to read this book slowly in order to catch all of the subtle humor, ironies and sarcasm.
It's particularly interesting to read about the German character prior to WWI.
