1811-1814. Two volumes, first editions. Vol. I xii + 422 pps.; Vol. II viii + 453 pps. with folding table correctly placed at p.300 as per binder's instruction at top corner of the sheet. Full contemporary leather with spines ruled in gilt and gilt-lettered labels. Occasional contemporary small pencil notations. Leather is well rubbed and has peeling in places, corners rounded, chipping to the haed and foot spine edges; front board of Vol. I is quite loose but still attached. Ownership sig, dated 1815 in pencil on front free endpaper of Vol. I and in ink along top of the title page; own. sig. and date of 1815 in ink on title page of Vol. II. Upper corners torn from margins of 7 leaves in Vol. II, not affecting the text. The first American textbook on the subject of anatomy, a classic in its field that went to several editions in the first half of the 19th century.
