Seller's Description:
Craig Johns. Near Fine. No Jacket. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. This is the last published work by Stanley Waterloo (1846-1913), a novel of "prehistoric fiction." A previous novel, "The Story of Ab, " was of the same genre, fitting in well with the fascination with eugenics and having great success. Famously, it was probably plagiarized by Jack London in his "Before Adam." Waterloo made that claim and London eventually admitted some influence. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition, lacking the dustjacket. Green ribbed cloth binding, with gilt titling on the spine; gilt decorations on the front cover (a design by Will Bradley) that suggest hieroglyphic cavemen. Clean text; xii, 334 pages. Frontis and three other illustrations by Craig Johns. The gilt on the spine is perhaps a tiny bit dulled; else a Fine copy. An extremely attractive book.
