The possessive pronouns, too, have no distinction of gender, either on the English or French principle. They are 1 (lm, o fm) my; d (in, In) thy; it (l, i), or, after a vowel, (si, s!) '% his, her, its; j (Imlz, Imiz) our, j$ (Inlz, Iniz) your; ($) (leri, lAr!), their. These possessives are suffixed to the substantives they qualify, and form one word with them. That compound o "word is then declined like a simple substantive; thus, jjl (evlm) my house, dijl (evlmin) of my house, L, j (evlme) to O f my house, J)jl (evlmde) in my house; &c. (The, _$ added here before the bare possessive, is thought by some to be needed in the case of a preceding consonant that does not join on in writing to its next letter in the same word.
