Books by Sheldon Vanlauken
Gripping & Touching
When my best friend gave it to me, he said I'd need kleenex. I thought he was trying to be funny. I couldn't put it down once I started it; and he was right about the kleenex. The story of their love and faith through her terminal illness was so encouraging in spite of the sadness. It made me look at things with a different perspective. The joy in the midst of grief is one of the main themes here. I also enjoyed the intellectual aspect of it with the experiences at Oxford and later university experiences. That he was a contemporary and student of CS Lewis doesn't hurt either. It's not often that you can blend intellect and emotions in a way that works, but Vanauken has done it superbly. I have since given it to others with the same recommendation given to me - read it with a box of kleenex.
