Excerpt from A Set of Tools We have abundant evidence that the ancients were skilled in masonry and the use of stone-cutting tools. They made musical instruments of metal and of 'wood, necessitating the use of many fine tools and of a thorough knowledge of metal-working and of the finer kinds of carpentry.
