As a former school secretary with the Lansing School District in Lansing, MI for five years, I witnessed and endured things that should never be allowed to go on in a school setting. As a former school secretary with the Lansing School District in Lansing, MI for five years, I witnessed and endured things that should never be allowed to go on in a school setting. I did everything I could to speak up for students, to teach them coping mechanism's to help them handle the disparate treatment they faced while at school (and in life in general). I also worked feverishly, and to my own detriment, to make Administrators throughout the district aware of the issues that were brewing inside the schools I worked in to no avail. When I grew tired of being ignored, I composed a lengthy tell all document detailing the happenings and abuses, hoping that change would soon follow. The only thing that followed my efforts to effect change, was efforts to black ball ME so that I would essentially be silenced via fear. After 5 years I finally had enough and walked away. However, after hearing and reading about continued sexual assaults and the continued mistreatment of sexual assault victims, I think it's time for me to share my story with those willing to finally listen. The LSD Superintendent, has failed her most vulnerable population time and time again. When will she be held accountable, how many lawsuits will be settled behind closed doors and how many of Lansing's best and brightest students and educators will flee this fledgling school district before true change is forced?
