Fiona Buckley's Ursula Blanchard mysteries are a must if you like suspense set in other times. Ursula, a widowed gentlewoman and sometime secret agent for Queen Elizabeth, has survived through a number of adventures (both physical and emotional) now, but I'm always looking forward to the next. And yes, when in Europe, she always does expect the Inquisition.
