After all Cronkite went through in his life, this book is a travesty. If any fool wants to believe that history is as sanitary as Cronkite describes it, he or she is welcome to do so but I'll skip the party.
There are few interesting facts in Cronkite's book. When interesting facts appear, they are worthless. There are no notes, so you can't source anything. This not really an autobiography; it's a 400-page diary entry. All we have here is Walter's word and -- I'm sorry -- but where history is concerned, Walter's word just isn't good enough.
Cronkite knew that, and he evidently didn't give a spit. Good Nazis and gangsters never come clean. What they know goes with them to the grave. So much for 'the most trusted man in America.' Turns out we could trust him only to look out for himself.

Indeed: The Most Trusted Man in America
