Britain's Proper Records presents 25 tracks, recorded 1950-1952, in chronological order. (This is not all Clooney recorded during the period. It leaves out children's and Christmas songs, for instance.) That means things start with her duet with label mate Frank Sinatra on the novelty "Peachtree Street" and continue with Clooney's early run of chart hits: "You're Just in Love" (a duet with Guy Mitchell); "Beautiful Brown Eyes"; "Come On-a My House"; "Mixed Emotions"; "I'm Waiting Just for You"; "If Teardrops Were Pennies"; "I Wish I Wuz"; "Be My Life's Companion"; "Tenderly"; "Half as Much"; "Botch-A-Me (Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina)"; "Too Old to Cut the Mustard" (with Marlene Dietrich); "Blues in the Night"; and "You'll Never Know" (with Harry James' trumpet). Many of these are light-hearted novelties, of course, but there are also suggestions of Clooney's later expertise with standards, particularly in the rest of her Harry James session on songs like "Over the Rainbow," "It Might as Well Be Spring," and "When You Wish Upon a Star."
