I chose this book because I was at Versailles this summer, so I could piture all the places mentioned in the book. It was the second in a series. Even though there are many hints aout what happened in the first book, I still want to go back and read it.
This story is about woman who had been a chlldhood friend of King Louis XIV. She is married and is fleeing religious persecution as a Huguenot. She is captured and forced to return to court where King Louis plans to make her his mistress. There is a lot of action and palace intrigue. I learned much about the Huguenots by reading this book.
