Great Read
Dr. Norman Geisler takes telescopic approach giving the reader an over all look at not only how the Old Testament was canonized but also how it all fits together. He methodically brakes down each book by stating who wrote the book (including any scholarly challenges), when it was written, where it was written and why it was written. He then generally breaks down each book by describing the purpose of the book with three different perspectives in mind. the historical purpose the doctrinal purpose, and the Christological purpose. Followed by the general content of each book being broken down into the major chapters and verses. The questions at the end of each chapter insure that the read has a strong comand of the content delivered throughout the chapters. I found it very reader friendly gerneral enough to give you a good easy overview yet detailed enough to paint a solid picture of the Old Testiment in general.
