Thomas D'Arcy McGee (1826 - 1868) was a Canadian journalist. He was the Father of Confederation and the only Canadian to be assassinated at the federal level. McGee was a Roman Catholic born in Ireland. He became involved in the Irish Confederation and Young Irelander Rebellion of 1848. His political activities produced a warrant for his arrest.
