Probably the most engrossing autobiography I have read to date. The inside of surreal art in Europe, it's transition to the US. All the people you would want to know about in a none gossip like manner. The language is superb. A stunning vocabulary without flaunting. And, the bonus is learning more about Max and Jimmy Ernst than all the monographs could possibly afford. Great entertainment, fact gathering and writing with the infusion of an ongoing stream of profundities. Every art library must have multiple copies of this gem for lending and gifts.
