Honestly, I picked up this book on a lark and didn't expect much from it. I was more than pleasantly surprised: I was absolutely enchanted! I found it witty, insightful, humorous, and thoroughly enjoyable from the first sentence to the last. This is a must-read for any fans of monster movies, gothic horror, or magic enthusiasts with a sense of humor!
The story is told from the perspective of Snuff, a watchdog and familiar spirit, whose first-person adventures are told in a diary format ranging from the first of October to October thirty-first. I would love to get into more detail of the story, but I feel if I write any more it may spoil some of the many delightful surprises in character appearances and plot twists.
The only down side of this tale I can think of is that it's packed with so many inside jokes and references pertaining to classic horror movies and classic (Lovecraftian) horror literature that if the reader isn't a fan of such, they won't get the full impact of this work. Other than that, it's all good!!
