Seller's Description:
Fine. No Dust Jacket. Folio. Signed by Second Contributor Unbound review copy of this facsimile reprint of Parts I and II of "A Monograph..." and first printing of the appendices by Joan Dixon sent to Dr. Gordon Sauer (Gould biographer and bibliographer) for review. This copy in stiff green paper covers is un-numbered, though still signed by Joan Dixon. Laid in is "Copy 2" of Sauer's review with his hand written notes regarding the publication of his review. Sauer's praise of the work is high, in particular part because of the additional appendices in which Dixon "covers the known history of Gould's work on the Kangaroos, an essay about John Gilbert, Gould's principal collector, taxonomic notes on the Kangaroos, a table comparing the nomenclature in this work with that in volume two of Gould's "Mammals of Australia" and with current names, and finally recent information on the species figured in this volume. She has done a very scholarly job on these subjects." This copy is un-trimmed and thus measures about an inch and a half more than the bound copy, in both height and width. The inked name of Gordon Sauer is seen at the top of the first leaf. Due to weight, additional charges will apply for Priority and/or International shipping.
