Seller's Description:
Very Good. 1782. 6th Edition. Paperback. [John Almon] 5th Edition. 4to. 51pp. Without the half-title. Rebound in morocco backed marbled boards, v. good condition. Seemingly the first tract to publicly announce Jenkinson's infatuation with an eighteen year girl thirty-six years his junior. John Almon, a successful bookseller and journalist, retired in 1781 after selling his business to John Debrett. His retirement was short-lived and he returned to publishing and journalism three years later. The present tract, much of it concerning America, was first published the same year. Interestingly Almon refers to Jenkinson's. amorous daliance after Miss A. It was no doubt ludicrous to see a tall thin old man of 54, over head and ears in love with a girl of 18. As yet we can find no other contemporary reference to this affair. Not in Sabin.....We ship daily from our warehouse.
