Red cloth binding, gilt coat-of-arms decoration and titles. Top edge gilt. pp. 582, 2 (ads) in two volumes. Light rubbing to boards and spine, tenderness to top and bottom, previous owner name has been crossed out on front endpapers. Anna Amalia founded the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar. In 2004 a fire tragically destroyed 30, 000 irreplaceable volumes and some 20, 000 others were severely damaged. The library was a UNESCO World Heritage site. The library specialized in German literature between 1750 and 1850. Very good condition.
