Burrows, M.D. In the Year 1765; And an Appendix, Containing a Number of Cures in Extraordinary Cases Many Practitioners, much efieemed for their Skill, decried it'as a fubtil Poifon and reprefented thol'e who dared to ufe it, to the Public, as the Enemies of Mankind. When the drfcredit of Mercury became thus general, other Methods were.introduced which had' been little pra???iifed till that Time; but their Want of Efficacy being foon acknowledged, the Ufe of Met cury was eliablished on its former Footing they ufed it with more Precaution, and with more Succefs for by diminishing the Bofes, they leffened the Hazard of its Application and abated the Violence of its Effects. On the Difeafed fo that, in all Probability a greater Number, perished through the Diftemper than the Manner of treating it At Jength by Degrees, the Publicbecarne habituated to the Ufe of this Mineral, and, inflead of a general Averfion to it, implicnly te liedon its Effects.
