On the extent of the commonwealth, he makes a calculation that the area within the boundaries amounts to one hundred and twenty-one thousand, five hundred and twenty-five square miles, which is one third larger than the two islands of Great Britain and Ireland. Though, to render the con elusion correct for the geography of the present day, Ken tucky must be deducted; as also all the bed and islands of the river Potomac whose southern margin is the Virginia boundary.
