(1878).--Dark brown powder, soluble in water to a yellow-brown solution, in strong sulphuric acid to a blue solution; on diluting with water a brown precipitate forms. Addition of hydrochloric acid to the aqueous solution throws down a brown precipitate; caustic soda turns the colour of the aqueous solution reddish brown.--Dyes wool in acid baths reddish brown, fairly fast to acids, washing and light. This colour is isomeric with Fast Bed A. Fast Brown--(bayer.)--Sodium salt of naphthionic acid disazo-resorcin C16H6SO3NaN: Nr, nTT C16H6SO3NaN: N/H2(OH)2 obtained by diazotising two molecules of naphthionic acid and combining with one molecule of resorcin (1881). Fast Brown--(MEISTER, LUCIUS AND BRUNING.) Sodium salt of xylene sulphonic acid disazo-a-naphthol C H2SO3Na(CH3)2N: Np n C6H2SO3Na(CH3)2N: N/6uh obtained by diazotising two molecules of xylidine monosulphonic acid and combining with one molecule of a-naphthol.--Dark brown powder, soluble in water to a brown solution, in strong sulphuric acid to a violet solution; on diluting with water this turns red. Addition of hydrochloric acid to the aqueous solution throws down a violet precipitate; caustic soda turns the aqueous solution a reddish rl yellow.--Dyes wool and silk in acid baths a brownish red. Fast Brown 3B--(actiengesellschaft.)--Sodium salt of B-naphthylamine sulphonie acid-azo-a.naphthol d6HSOsNaN: NC16H6OH obtained by diazotising S-naphthylamine monosulphonic acid Br. and combining with a-naphthol.
