I was unwilling, and said the work would much better become himself, but he would take no denial. I was obliged to go. The Lord was with us.'. 'Dec. 4th.--It is nine years since I obtained perfect love. How unfaithful have I been! I cannot say, as more faithful souls, that I never lost the blessing. With shame I acknowledge I have again and again; but God has not suffered me to rest in defiled garments.'-Nov. 18, 1814.--Both my classes prosper, but O my family! May the Most High hear prayer on their behalf 'Jan. 4, 1815.--Blessed be God, Mr. Mayne's sermon on last Sabbath evening reached the heart of my younger son, John. His text was, "Ye cannot serve two masters." I never saw one in more distress of mind; all desire for meat, drink, and sleep, was taken away. This morning he was up, waiting for me, before it was light. I prayed with him. He found comfort, but did not fully satisfy me that he had found peace till two o'clock. I talked to and prayed with him again, and found, to my unspeakable joy, that God had graciously pardoned his sins G in the morning.
