There are several books that add a prayer at the beginning of each decade and these are all good. We are honoring Mary and learning about Jesus through the recitation of prayers. But Mary wanted more. We say the rosary to honor Mary. We honor Mary by getting to know her son. When Mary appears and tells us to pray the rosary, she is not selfishly asking us to honor her, she is begging us to long for a deeper understanding and knowledge of her son. In establishing that relationship between our families and the rosary and therefore her son we become all we can be as Catholics and Christians. So, it is time. Let us learn as families how to really know and form a closer relationship with Mary and Jesus with the rosary as our guide.
