I read for a trip to another place. I find this trip with writers who have the skills with language, metaphor, plot, details, descriptions, and the drafting and playing out of characters--their actions and their inner life. Lee child gives much of this, but Don Winslow gives all of it. As Winslow writes more books, they get better and better. His new best seller, The Cartel, finally brought him the kind of big time national recognition he deserves. And, to boot, when you meet him or hear him in person, he is a fabulous raconteur.
