I picked this book up at a local book store knowing absolutely nothing about it. It was certainly one of those lucky picks! I have always been a sucker for a good love story but now I really appreciate one with extra substance. The "extra" in this book would be the authors depictions of India, the political climate, prejudice, and culture clash. I have lent it to a friend and she tore through it very quickly as well also giving her approval as "a definite good read." Our only complaint about the book was the lack of quotation marks (it seems to be a recent trend in publishing) which tends to slow the reading down somewhat. I needed to reread paragraphs at times to figure out if the character was making a statement or thought. At other times when I encounter this in books I just tend to put the book away rather than suffer through it but this book I did not abandon.
