A Bibliography of the Dance Collection of Doris Niles and Serge Leslie was originally planned to form two volumes, which were published in 1966 and 1968 respectively. However, the increasing interest in the Dance over the succeeding years, and by no means confined to Europe and the United States of America, has resulted in a steady flow of books dealing with the manifold facets of that art, which has spread to many languages. The Leslies have sought out and continued to add finds both new and old to their Collection, and now, encouraged by the favourable reception accorded the parent volumes, have decided to continue their work by compiling and issuing a supplement or third volume devoted mainly to publications of the twentieth century. It is hoped that the new book will be found no less helpful as a work of reference for librarians, historians, critics, and all those seeking information on the Dance. The new volume contains a description of more than 1,200 items, mainly books, relating to dancing, works on all branches of technique, biographies of dancers, histories of dancing, accounts of ballets, synopses and so on. The books are arranged in alphabetical order under authors, followed by the title of the work, size and number of pages and illustrations, nature of binding, publisher, and date of publication. There is also a subject index to aid a reader who seeks a work but lacks the name of the author.
