Edwin Starr was never a great album artist, but he could sure pack a punch on the right single. Both of these albums are loaded with filler, but their title cuts are triumphant. Starr managed to obliterate The Temptations' version of "War," his greatest single ever. He was almost that good on "25 Miles," helped by a great arrangement darting in and out at the perfect times, allowing his booming voice to re-enter and punch the lyrics home.
