This book gives a number of afghans completed in a series of smaller blocks. In addition to basic squares, there is a lot of colorwork designs, such as intarsia squares, and even bead knitted squares. The designs have a feel of a handsewn quilt translated to knitting. You can use the patterns to make your own designs as well. I like the idea of working an afghan in smaller portable pieces. If you have not wanted to commit to knitting a huge afghan all of one piece, then this is the book for you. Instructions are clear and colorfully printed. I look forward to knitting variations in yarns and colors from this book. I feel I will enjoy this for years to come.
