On l'interroge sur les grandes pr�occupations humaines et, inlassablement, il chuchote sa r�ponse avec tendresse et compr�hension, sans dogmatisme. Long po�me en prose, Le Proph�te nous livre une conception de la religion qui est une conception de la vie. �tonnamment moderne, le panth�isme de Khalil Gibran conduit le divin vers des r�gions accessibles � tous. Nul besoin d'�tre chr�tien, comme son auteur, pour se laisser bercer par le doux balancement des phrases. D'une grande indulgence envers les faiblesses de l'homme, mais aussi d'une grande confiance dans ses possibilit�s, ce texte merveilleux, publi�e en 1925, est sans doute le texte auquel Gibran a consacr� le plus d'efforts.
