Hayhurst undoubtedly tells a true story about life in the minors. His relationship with his own family is sad and believable. However, I could have done with much less recounting of the juvenile behavior and over-the-top obscenity of his teammates. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone whom I didn't know well. Keith Olbermann is quoted as calling it "one of the best baseball books ever written." Keith must not have read Shoeless Joe or The Old Ballgame or Moneyball.
