David Kupelian, veteran journalist and bestselling author of The Marketing of Evil, probes the millennia-old questions of evil--what it is, how it works, and why it so routinely and effortlessly ruins our lives--once again demonstrating his uncanny knack for demystifying complex, elusive, and intimidating subjects with fresh insights into the hidden mechanisms of seduction, corruption, religion, and power politics. Analyzing today's most electrifying news stories and hot-button topics, Kupelian explores such profoundly troubling questions as Why are big lies more believable than little ones? How does terrorism really work? Why do so many celebrities who "have it all" end up self-destructing? Why are boys doing worse in school today than girls? Why do we treat the problems of anger and depression with drugs? . . . and much more. Fortunately, once we really understand "how evil works"--both in our own lives and in the world at large--evil loses much of its power and the way out becomes more clear.

looking forward to read...
I will probably read the book. You say that having gay sex is not evil and that you do not believe in God. Ok, so you have to say that it is NOT evil to have sex with animals, or with your grandmother or with seals. Because you do not believe in divine truth, then it is ok to be sexually attracted to infants. It is ok to have sex with corpses or with a dozen women. It is ok to masturbate in public [it harms no one]. If you find that offensive, then you will have to let me find it offensive to see the sexually perverted and impeached Bill Clinton on TV [to look at him makes me nauseous]. But, of course, to you, sex in public is not offensive. I have to believe in God because I have waited for years for my oak trees to evolve into banana trees, in keeping with evolution. Until they do, I will believe in a Creator. PS, the book must be popular. Just look at the price!

Why are critics of the far right called evil?
Why is it when you don't agree with the far, far, far right, that you are evil? This is a common theme I see emerging. Not only are you wrong, but you are evil. Or, if not evil, then unamerican or unpatriotic. The reason is simply, the far, far right (and this author is definately that) sees society through purely black/white terms and you better believe they know they are on the side of apple pie, Chevies and moms. Ok, I can take someone stating I am wrong. I can take someone who states my values are a bit off. Fine, but to state that what I believe in is evil?!
I am an atheist who supports gay rights. Is atheism or "militant" atheism evil? Is homosexuality evil? I don't believe in a deity, that is evil in any sense? My support of church/state seperation, is evil? My gay sister who harms no one, is evil? Or, is it just her the woman that she loves is evil? See, if someone disagrees with me I don't believe they are evil. I think Pat Robertson is way wrong on pretty much anything, but evil? No. Newt Gingrich, wrong but not evil. So to Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck etc. Well, Fred "God hates f-gs" Phelps might be evil. It is hard to have discourse with with a group who thinks not only are you wrong but you are literally doing the work of the mythical devil. So, if you want to vent your hate against the "evil" secular left in America, this book is for you.
