Brokenness
I'm never disappointed by Tamera Alexander's books. They have "real" characters, a good plot, a spiritual message and leading men who you can fall in love with. They are rugged men, in this case, a U.S. Marshall.
This story was about a young woman who has been "raising" her rebellious younger brother. To get a fresh start after some trouble with the law, they head to Colorado. On arrival, her cousin dies, leaving McKenna to care for her cousin's daughter.
McKenna is a tough young woman who has a non-traditional job, making saddles, and she learns that God sometimes breaks us until we are wholly His.
The story explores life in rough mining towns, new Chinese immigrants, and the practice of foot binding. The love story between McKenna and Wyatt was both sweet and steamy.
