He divides the book into sections corresponding to historical epochs and for each era presents the major subjects of interest, major figures on the interpretive scene, major methods of interpretation and a case study on a particular book or section of the Bible interpreted in a way peculiar to the time period under discussion. Dr. Bray writes engagingly and the sections that aren't going through lists of names go by quickly. The lists of names take a little longer if you are just reading through, but the main strength of their presence is the book's greater value as a reference manual. You can easily look up particular interpreters and get a quick feel for how they come at the Bible and what era they relate to, which is extremely useful.
