This is a very well written novel that examines relatioships, trauma's effect on people, and race relationships. This is accomplished by the author in a highly personal narrative that avoids all jargon and pc issues. Bravo- I will be reading more novels by Jeffrey Lent.

Very strong writer
Not only this book but others by Jeffrey Lent -- A Peculiar Grace and Lost Nation -- are carefully constructed and very much worth reading. His characters are strong. His plots are intricate and compelling. These books are about very strong, driven, men who are trying to make peace with their past. Sometimes the sins of the fathers are visited quite a ways down the family line.
