This is Dorothy Simpson's first Inspector Thanet mystery. Written in the early 80's, Inspector Thanet is a pretty good detective, but for me, it is hard to beat characters like Adam Dagleish from PD JAmes and Lord Peter Wimsey from Dorothy Sayers. The story seemed well crafted enough, but maybe a little too much reflective thinking and too little clues and actual evidence being produced. I was looking for a decent British mystery, and it is fun to discover Ms. Simpson's offerings. A good summer read!
