I was really looking forward to reading this book but unfortunately I felt very let down. The stereotyped characters were very one dimensional. This may appeal to some readers however for me there were no surprises, nothing new, and certainly the story gave me nothing to think about. I didn't finish the book and would have given it one star except I didn't abandon it after my normal 100-150 page rule but abandoned it around 290 pages. I became bored with the story and flipped to the end to read the last 15 pages or so (haven't done that in a LONG time). I should say I have not read Shors' previous novel Against a Marble Sky(?) so I am unable to compare this book to it but those reviews I've read state Marble Sky is far superior to Burning Sea.
