This is the first book of the Bromeliad trilogy.
I really liked this trilogy.
The main characters are 4 in. nomes who have lived for so long in a department store they have forgotten about living anywhere else.
They learn the store is about to be closed, and have to find a new place to live.
Terry Pratchett does a great job of creating a community with its own structure and belief system based upon seeing the world from 4 in. high.
