SIGNED by the author on the half-title page with inscription dated 9 March 1987: "To Curtis Tunnel and all the people at the Texas Historical Commission, with thanks for your encouragement and assistance through the years." Curtis Tunnel served as Executive Director of the Texas Historical Commission, 1981-1999. Light wear at ends of spine, bottom edges and bottom corners, clean text, tight binding, nice jacket. The first published book to look at the historical structures, from windmills and lighthouses to dams and bridges, that were responsible for making Texas the habitable place it is today.
