Kenneth M. Heilman received his M.D. degree from the University of Virginia in 1963, trained in Internal Medicine at Cornell-Bellevue Hospital, served in the US Air Force as Chief of Medicine at NATO Hospital, Izmir, Turkey. He took a Neurology residency and fellowship at the Harvard Neurological Unit of Boston City (1967-1970), and then joined the faculty at the University of Florida. He was the James E. Kenneth M. He took a Neurology residency and fellowship at the Harvard Neurological Unit of Boston City (1967-1970), and then joined the faculty at the University of Florida. He was the James E. Rooks Jr. Distinguished Professor and currently is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus. Between 1996 and 2009, he was Chief of the Neurology Service at the Gainesville VA. He has helped to trained more than 70 post-doctoral fellows. His research has been supported by the NIH and/or the VA for more than 40 years. He is the author/editor of 18 books, and more than 650 journal publications. He is a past President of the International Neuropsychology Society (INS) and the Society for Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology and received a Distinguished Career Awards from both. He is an Honorary Member of the American Neurological Association a Fellow in the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and received the Wartenberg Keynote Lecturer Award from the AAN. See less
