June Counsel

Born the daughter of rubber planters, working in what is now called Malaysia, June Counsel spent an idyllic and tragic childhood in Sussex.After World War II, where she worked at Bletchley Park helping to decode messages from the Enigma machine, she studied English, thrn entered teaching, eventually became a published children's author.
