Julie Smart, PhD, CRC, NCC, LPC, ABDA, CCFC, ABPC, LVRC is Professor and former Director, Rehabilitation Counselor Education Program, Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation, Utah State University. Her areas of specialization include multicultural rehabilitation, the rehabilitation of Hispanics, distance education, psychological aspects of disability, and disability studies. She is the author of "Disability, Society, and the Individual "(2008), chapter author of several books, and author of numerous professional articles in such journals as "Journal of Rehabilitation, Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling, Journal of Counseling and Development, Rehabilitation Education, Directions in Rehabilitation Counseling, " and "Journal of Forensic Vocational Assessment. " She is on the editorial review board of "Continuing Education for Rehabilitation Nurses, Life Planning and Managed Care Nurses", and the "American Disability" Analyst and on the editorial board of "Directions in Rehabilitation Counseling". She was a NIDRR Switzer Scholar in 1989-1990. She is a site visitor and accreditor for the Commission on Standards and Accreditation. See less
